Terms & Conditions
Our aim at all times is to be:
- Honest
- Reliable
- Friendly
- Professional
- Excellent value for money
So we need to be up front about a few things:
Diagnosis without Repair
We do not use the term "no fix - no fee" because we believe it is no more than a marketing ploy - we could keep replacing parts until the cows come home and it is fixed! Equally, if the problem is actually caused by a third party, such as your internet provider, we cannot fix things without their co-operation. If we think your PC is beyond economic repair, we promise to give you our honest opinion. In return, if we have fixed some of your problems but not all or incurred costs during the diagnosis, we will charge you fairly.
Confidentiality
We promise to keep any passwords and personal details you need to give us in the course of our work as secret as we do our own. We will not give anyone else access to your PC nor the data contained within it. There is one exception to this rule - we are morally and legally bound to inform the police if we find anything truly unacceptable (for example, evidence of child abuse) on your machine.
Guarantees and Warranties
Any parts that we supply are bought new (unless otherwise discussed) and we will provide you with the manufacturer's warranty. Please keep it safe - in the unlikely event of something going wrong it will be required if we need to make a warranty claim. We will always demonstrate that a problem is rectified before we leave, and happily wait while you make any checks you require, but if you are not entirely satisfied please tell us as soon as possible. If the same fault rears its ugly head again, and the problem has not been caused by something you have done or is not a different problem with similar symptoms, we will fix it free of charge.
Business Users - extra terms
If your business relies on your PC then you are considered a business user. In that situation please be aware of some extra considerations:
Protection of Data
We will do everything we can to protect your data while we work on your machine. For example, if we are re-installing an operating system, we will backup data first. However, we cannot guarantee recovery of data if it is already inaccessible when we first arrive, although we will try our best and usually succeed. Ultimately, we cannot be held responsible for any loss (financial or otherwise) if data that is not backed up can not be recovered. If you don't currently backup your data, please ask our advice on how to - it really is a valuable exercise.
Continuity of Service
If a part we have replaced or your PC fails in some way after we have worked on it, we cannot be responsible for any loss of productivity or business while the PC is repaired. If your business depends on having your PC constantly available, please talk to us about loan machines or backup hardware.
